It’s a beautiful morning in the Great Smoky Mountains. As I walked onto the deck I saw the rays of the sun streaming through the trees. In that moment, I felt the breath of inspiration wash over my entire being. This is a state of being I call inspiration. Choose your state change your Life.
The State of Love
I sat down in my lounge chair and read, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) And in my state of inspiration, my soul was inspired to love automatically. This LOVE is an eternal state because the eternal God is Love. When Jesus said, “Abide in my love…” He invited you into an eternal emotive state of being. As you might guess, God is passionate about you.
In the first century, the Apostle Paul encourages his intern Timothy to choose wholesome internal states, be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Can you imagine entering a state of prayer, that brings a state of God’s peace that blows your mind? Instead of entering an alert state of careful wearisomeness; pray and make your requests with thanksgiving. You have a choice. Choose your state change your life.
What is a State?
A state is a strategic emotional force of being that emanates from within you. When you encounter your father, mother, brother, sister, friend, or lover, your neurological system programs into your soul a catalogue of memories and their associated states. Therefore, when I choose to revisit my morning memory of sun rays streaming through the trees, I experience an inspirational state once again.
When a memory comes up with the state, it is as if your soul’s Juke Box pulls up a favorite record to play. When the right buttons are pushed, the thoughts, emotions, and states associated with that record manifest for review. The choice is to either stay in the mood presented or change it for a more positive state.
I am sure you have experienced the reaction of someone having a bad day. How have you fared when you awake in a bad mood? As you choose to remember more highly productive states and join them with the power of Spirit you change your life. Although you walk through many different states on any given day, you choose your state by what you focus on.
Your are Wired for States
You are made to experience, pass through, and retain states in a trigger response neurological system. This is the way your mind and body and soul connections work. (3 John 2) Throughout your life your unconscious mind was trained to assign meaning to each encounter. After years of evaluating family, school, work, and church experiences, you develop strategic states that help you manage life.
For example, when my wife says, “Good morning Love.” my internal strategy affirms that I trust her. As her voice comes into my ears I feel a state of love and acceptance. Imagine receiving this emotional strength every day?
You can have this daily because the state you experience comes from within you – from your soul and the kingdom of God that lives inside you. Nothing you experience from the world around you can touch you until YOU assign meaning to it. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:5) Jesus lived in a continual state of communion with His Father, that they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us… (John 17:21) He assigned the meaning of eternal love to every encounter.
Choose Your State
If I walk up to a friend at work, who speaks against me and my internal strategy assigns alarm or possible hurt from betrayal, my unconscious may choose a state of threat. When your buttons are pushed, and you choose to play recorded experiences of fear, anxiety, and betrayal, it is only natural for your neurological programming to transmit a negative state. When you assign alarm, the state of threat will prevail. If you assign possible potential, the state of excitement about the future will prevail. If you slump over and assign depression, all that you receive will pass through that state. Therefore, when you choose your state you change your life.
Choose Your Focus
Your circumstances can control your state, or you can control your circumstances through your state. When you get up in the morning you choose a positive – energetic or negative – depressed state. When you go to work, you choose either a state of mundane activity or a state of creativity.
This is how the Apostle Paul in the first century shared his insight about your mindset. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8). It is virtuous and praise worthy to think on these things. Meditate on what is true. Focus on an honest state. To the pure all things are pure. (Titus 1:15)
The eternal Father sent an invitation from the Spirit and the Bride, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Revelation 22:17) This eternal flow of Spirit, light, and love is a state that abounds with life. Walk in the Spirit… (Galatians 5:16)
Will you take the challenge? Focus on the things that shine with bright and beautiful colors, and you will have the rewards this state brings. Friends and family will be drawn to you. People will seek you out for wisdom. Your state will produce the fruit of a remarkable life. Choose your state Change your life!
